voco St David’s Cardiff has announced its newest charity partnership with Mind Cardiff, strengthening its commitment to supporting local communities and raising awareness around mental health and wellbeing.
To mark the start of the partnership, staff from the hotel completed their first fundraising challenge – a hike up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. Blessed with glorious sunshine and panoramic views, the team powered to the top to raise funds and awareness for the vital work Mind Cardiff does in supporting mental health across the capital.
The new partnership with Mind Cardiff adds to voco St David’s growing roster of community and environmental initiatives. As a dog-friendly hotel, the team has long supported Cardiff Dogs Home, and through its ‘Meetings for Good’ programme, donates £1 per delegate to Stump Up for Trees—a charity working to plant more trees across Wales. In addition, £1 from every Bay View Afternoon Tea sold is also donated to the cause.
Each September, the hotel also takes part in IHG’s global Giving for Good Month, supporting organisations such as Head Above the Waves, a Cardiff-based mental health charity supporting young people, and Action Against Hunger, a global movement to end hunger.
Konstantin Grimm, General Manager at voco St David’s Cardiff, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with Mind Cardiff this year. Mental health touches all of us in some way, and this partnership gives us the opportunity to make a real difference in our local community. At voco St David’s, we believe hospitality goes beyond the hotel doors—it’s about being a positive force in our city. Whether it’s through raising funds, awareness or simply offering support, our team is committed to giving back.”
The hotel plans to continue its fundraising efforts for Mind Cardiff throughout the year with a series of activities, challenges, and awareness-raising campaigns.
Catherine Sutcliffe, from Mind Cardiff, said:
“We are delighted to have been chosen as your charity partner and so very grateful for your support, we are looking forward to working alongside you this year. We absolutely loved the hike up Pen y Fan, what a perfect way to kickstart our partnership! We are committed to supporting the people of Cardiff with their mental health and wellbeing, and to reducing the stigma still present around mental health and pleased to do this with your support. Thank you all!”
