Last night Jimmy Eat World wrapped up this summers Cardiff Castle concerts brought to you by Depot Live.
Twenty five years on and Bleed American sounds as good as the day it came out with Jimmy Eat World giving everything back to the fans.
It was clear that they had revisited these songs since there career defining release in 2001 and evolved them artistically. They matched this with an elevated live performance like non before starting off with a sprinkle of songs people weren’t expecting. The track Clarity was there choice of opener, followed by Your New Aesthetic, Blister and Lucky Denver Mint. The stage lights then opened out and the title song of the album rang out loud and proudly.
Ten studio albums on from their formation in Arizona, but this is the album the fans treasure the most. With tracks like Hear You Me and Sweetness, this night was always going to be a good one.

Drummer Zach Lind, was a master of beats and clearly appreciated having the opportunity to perform songs like Bleed American again to the die hard fans and new fans alike.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Jim Adkins took to the stage full of gratitude to be once again singing these songs to the people that truly care about them.
It was a crowd full of decades worth of different band t-shirt designs, families serenading each other and people video calling loved ones who couldn’t be there. Although it was a very no frills performance in terms of pyros and sets etc, it was a show full of fans who have waited years for this moment.

It made sense that Rise Against were the support act and they easily could have been co headliners. The crowd seemed as invested in their set as they were Jimmy Eat World themselves. They came in hard with Re-Education and ended with Saviour and everything in-between was added to my playlist too. High energy and I happily could have danced to them for longer.
Exiting the castle one last time this summer felt a little sad as these walls have absorbed such an amazing mix of incredible artists this year. The only thing left to ask is, Who should headline next year?
