Base Camp Indian Kitchen, a brand-new restaurant located at 29 Park Place, is set to open, bringing a new culinary experience that celebrates the diverse flavours of the Indian subcontinent. The new concept aims to take diners on a journey through Himalayan mountain cuisine to the vibrant coastal flavours of Southern India.
Housed in a historic venue that once hosted iconic musical acts, Base Camp Indian Kitchen is set to breathe new life into the space, which has been closed for nearly two years. With a mission to contribute ever growing and vibrant food scene, this new restaurant will offer diners something unique.
The vision behind Base Camp comes from Ram Sapkota, who was born in the Himalayas and began his culinary journey at the age of 15 with a small Nepalese café. After 15 years working in the UK’s hospitality industry, including as General Manager of popular south Indian restaurant Mint & Mustard and the Ivy group, Ram is now opening his first place in Cardiff, along with a team of very experienced chefs and and front of house.
The restaurant’s slogan, “Peaks to Coastal Cooking”, reflects its commitment to showcasing the rich culinary traditions of the Himalayas and Indian coastal regions. Each meal promises to be an expedition of bold, aromatic mountain spices and fresh coastal flavours.
