The Beefy Boys Announce First Welsh Restaurant in Cardiff
Cardiff’s burger scene is about to get a major new addition, as award-winning burger brand The Beefy Boys has announced plans to open its first restaurant in Wales.
The Hereford-born burger specialists, who have earned international recognition for their burgers, are heading to Cardiff on the former Mugshot steak house, with plans to open in March 2027.
And if their impressive collection of awards is anything to go by, burger lovers in the Welsh capital are in for a treat.
The Beefy Boys started out as a group of friends from Hereford with a shared passion for burgers and barbecue.
What began as friends competing at food festivals quickly turned into something much bigger when they started making a name for themselves on the international burger competition circuit.
In 2014, the group won the Grillstock BBQ Festival, earning themselves a place at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas, where they finished second.
Since then, the brand has gone on to become one of the UK’s most celebrated burger restaurants, picking up several major awards along the way.
In 2023, The Beefy Boys took home Best Burger and Best Burger Chef at the National Burger Awards, cementing their reputation as one of the country’s leading burger specialists.
They followed that success with another impressive international result in 2024, finishing fourth at the World Burger Championships in Indianapolis.
The new restaurant will mark The Beefy Boys’ first venture into Wales, bringing their award-winning burgers to the heart of Cardiff.
Known for their indulgent burgers, stacked toppings and American-inspired approach to comfort food, the brand has built a loyal following among burger enthusiasts.
The arrival will add another name to Cardiff’s growing independent and specialist food scene, with the city continuing to attract popular restaurant brands from across the UK.
While further details about the Cardiff menu and official opening date are still to be announced, the restaurant is currently expected to welcome its first customers in March 2027.
The Beefy Boys is planning to open at 12 Wharton Street, Cardiff, in March 2027.
