Brand New Winter Rooftop Tipi Bar Opens in Cardiff City Centre

Cardiff has a brand-new festive hideaway this Christmas, as The Botanist transforms its city centre rooftop into a cosy winter tipi complete with fairy lights, festive pizzas, seasonal cocktails and live music.

The new Tipi on the Roof opened at The Botanist Cardiff Central on Church Street on Saturday 24 October, bringing a little Christmas magic to the heart of the city.

Perched above the busy streets, the rooftop has been transformed into a winter retreat, decorated with twinkling fairy lights, festive foliage and cosy fur blankets.

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to escape the Christmas shopping crowds, enjoy a few festive drinks with friends or organise an office Christmas party, this new rooftop spot could be worth adding to your list.

It’s not just the decorations getting a Christmas makeover.

The Botanist has created a brand-new pizza menu exclusively for the rooftop tipi, featuring some festive twists on familiar favourites.

One of the highlights is the Hot Honey Pig Pizza, inspired by the flavours of a Christmas dinner, while the Camembert & Butternut Squash Pizza offers another seasonal option.

There’s also a new cocktail menu, with The Botanist teaming up with elderflower liqueur brand St-Germain to add a floral twist to its festive drinks.

Highlights include the Ho Ho Hugo!, a festive take on the classic Hugo Spritz, and The Nutcracker, a seasonal shot.

And to add to the atmosphere, there will be live music from Wednesday through to Sunday, making it a great spot for an evening out in the city centre.

While winter tipis have become a popular Christmas tradition in cities across the UK, this is the first time The Botanist has introduced the concept at one of its venues.

The idea takes inspiration from sister venue The Oast House in Manchester, where its winter teepee has become a festive favourite over the past 14 years.

Now Cardiff has become the first Botanist location in the country to get its own rooftop version.

Kate Lister-Clancy, Sales & Marketing Director, said:

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring Tipi magic to Wales with our very first Botanist Tipi. With the rooftop setting, festive pizzas, seasonal cocktails and beautiful decor, we can’t wait to welcome guests up to the roof in Cardiff this Christmas.

“We’ll have live music to soundtrack the Tipi every day, from Wednesday through to Sunday, to really make this the cosiest spot in town.”
