Travel Advice Issued for Kendrick Lamar’s Cardiff Show at Principality Stadium

endrick Lamar is set to headline Cardiff’s Principality Stadium this Friday, July 19, and with thousands expected to descend on the city centre, Cardiff Council has issued detailed travel guidance to help fans get in and out of the city safely and with minimal disruption.


Event and Road Closure Details

  • Stadium gates open: 5pm
  • City centre road closures: From 3pm to midnight
  • Early closures: Park Street and Scott Road will close from 7am for safety and queue management.

Road closures from 3pm will affect large parts of the city centre, including:

  • Kingsway, Cowbridge Road East, Tudor Street, Westgate Street, Duke Street, Castle Street, High Street, St Mary Street, and more.
  • Penarth Road will also be closed 30 minutes before the concert ends and for up to an hour afterwards to manage train passenger safety.

Train Services

Transport for Wales and Great Western Railway will be running extra and longer trains where possible to meet demand.

  • Passengers are strongly advised to check for service changes and last train times in advance.
  • queuing system will be in place outside Cardiff Central from 10pm.
  • Cardiff Queen Street station closes at 10pm, unless travelling to Cardiff Bay or needing accessible access.

  • Location: Vindico Arena, International Drive, Cardiff Bay (CF11 0JS)
  • First bus: 11am | Last return bus: Midnight
  • Cost: £15 (cash only)

Civic Centre Parking:

  • Opens: 8am | Closes: Midnight
  • Cost: £20 (cars), £30 (coaches) – card payment accepted
  • Access via Junction 32 of the M4 and follow A470 to city centre.

Sophia Gardens Parking:

  • Approx. 10-minute walk to stadium
  • Open from 8am to midnight
  • Staffed until 7pm – vehicles left overnight are at owner’s risk
  • £20 for cars, £30 for coaches – card accepted
