This is when the Cardiff Christmas market will return.

Following its condensed market last winter, which was cut short – organisers behind the festive market have revealed that the Cardiff Christmas Markets are officially set to go ahead, returning with its many stalls across the city.

The beloved market was cancelled last Autumn as a result of the pandemic, with the council hosting a small event for locals to enjoy as an alternative. The annual event attracts thousands every single year, marking the main event in the city’s annual calendar.

Setting up in various spots across Cardiff’s city centre,  visitors will be able to enjoy the event at full scale, with tons of food traders, gift stalls and pop-up bars set to return for the occasion – which is currently earmarked to take place between 11th November – 23rd December.

Craft Folk have organised and developed the Cardiff Christmas Market in the pedestrian heart of Cardiff City Centre for nearly 30 years. We continue to be committed to providing a platform for artists, crafts people and food and drink producers to exhibit and sell their exceptional work directly to the general public.  In today’s economic climate it is more important than ever to protect our arts and crafts heritage, to ensure that there is always a place in retailing for originality and diversity.

The beautifully decorated wooden stalls are located outdoors in St John Street, Working Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes. These pedestrian streets are very wide and so present no problem in enabling us to adhere to any Covid regulations that may still be in place during our market. We would like to reassure everyone that all possible care will be taken by us, and our exhibitors, to ensure that your visit will be as safe and enjoyable as possible and managed according to rigorous safety standards in a COVID-safe environment.

Unlike the Christmas Markets you may find in other cities when you visit Cardiff, you can be assured that you will be purchasing original work from each and every one of our talented makers: bespoke silver jewellery, wooden turned gifts, original artwork across all mediums, beautiful fused glass work, hand thrown ceramics, handmade quilts and textiles, traditional pewter gifts to name just a few combined with a variety of seasonal food and alcohol producers to create a vibrant Christmas atmosphere.  You can also chat with them about their work, the making process, and discuss commissions if you wish.

Whilst they welcome returning exhibitors none of them rest on their laurels.  As their craft is also their business, they are always creating new pieces of work thus ensuring that their stalls always look fresh and innovative.  You will also see lots of new faces, testing out the market with their own work in our Taster Stalls.

A comprehensive list of all participants will be published on our website closer to the start of the market including their trading dates, and stall number, as not everyone takes part for the full event.
