Cardiff is hitting all the right notes this summer as it hosts one of the busiest and most star-studded music seasons in its history. With performances at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Castle, Black Weir, and other venues across the city, thousands of fans are expected to descend on the capital throughout July and into early August.
Whether you’re heading to a sold-out stadium show or a riverside gig, it’s important to plan ahead — with road closures, extra transport services, and safety measures in place.

Travel and Transport Advice
The M4 and major routes into the city are expected to be extremely busy, particularly on stadium gig days. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport or the Park & Ride service located at the Vindico Arena (CF11 0JS).
Train services by Transport for Wales (TfW) and Great Western Railway (GWR) will be strengthened with additional services. However, engineering work may affect certain routes — especially for those travelling from Bristol and the southwest.
From 9–20 June, and again on 29 June, no direct trains will run between Bristol and South Wales. Travellers should change at Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa. GWR will also operate extra trains post-concert for events including Oasis and Kendrick Lamar.
For all concerts:
- Cardiff Central station: Queuing systems begin from 10pm
- Cardiff Queen Street: Closed at 10pm, except for accessible needs or Bay routes
- Cardiff Bus Interchange: Closed at 12 noon for Oasis and 3pm for all other events
Civic Centre roads — including King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, and City Hall Road — will have restricted access, with permission only for limited parking and access to private car parks.
