The 1920’s bank that’s being turned into a bistro bar in Dinas Powys

The plans to transform the old vacant bank into a new coffee bar and restaurant are underway.

A former bank in Dinas powys, the last in the town before it closed in 2017, will be turned into a high cocktail and bistro bar

The revamped building will include a new covered entrance at the front with bi-folding doors, but almost all of the original features will be retained and restored.

Development of the 1000sqft building is already underway and with plans to open towards the end of March early April.

Inside the new cafe and dining spot, the lobby, bar and social spaces are being redesigned and re-furbished to accommodate a modern, innovative gastronomy concept, with a 1920’s feel.

An all new seating area will be added to create a combination of restaurant, bar, lounge and social working area with a long bar serving cocktails, coffee and drinks positioned along the back wall of the first floor.

There will be many details left as a clear reference to the buildings history as a bank in the early 1920s through to the late 2000s.

The second floor and former safe will be transformed into a large open kitchen and staff breakout area, allowing employees to take their breaks away from customers.
