One of Cardiff’s most talked-about new restaurants is expanding, as Sonder prepares to open a second venue in Canton/ Pontcanna.
The team behind Sonder, which has quickly built a strong reputation in just a year, is launching Vicino, a new neighbourhood Tapas bar & restaurant located just across the road in the former Ahead of the Game site.
The name Vicino, meaning “neighbour”, gives a good idea of what to expect. This is set to be a relaxed, local spot built around good food, drinks and atmosphere, designed to sit right at the heart of the Canton and Pontcanna community.
On the menu, Vicino will bring Mediterranean-style tapas and European-inspired drinks, all with the same attention to quality that has made Sonder such a popular name in the area. Expect smaller plates made for sharing, alongside a drinks list that leans into classic European flavours.
Since opening, Sonder has made a real impact on the local food scene, and this new opening looks set to build on that momentum, giving people even more reason to spend time in the neighbourhood.
