New Karak Chaii cafe set to open in Cardiff

A new ‘desi style street food’ is open their first venue in Wales.

Karak Chaii which has stores in Birmingham and is expanding nationally, offers urban desi style street foods as well as fresh coffee, tea, all-day breakfast, cake, and biscuits from all around the world.

Karak Chai translates to “strong tea”, but what makes it unique is the way it is brewed. Traditionally the chai is made by boiling water in a saucepan with loose tea leaves or tea bags. Usually with just milk, sugar and water, however you can add masala (spices) such as cardamom, saffron or ginger.

Once boiled, milk is added as well as any spices you like (I love saffron in my chai) and sugar to taste, before letting the mixture cook and boil again.

The menu consists of a trio of All-Day Desi Breakfasts; four types of Rotis; a good number of street food items, such as, the Bombay Sandwich, Chilli Paneer, and Keema Matar & Masala Chips; as well as a variety of Desserts.

Karak Chaii says it has “a busy 12 months ahead opening 52 more locations nationwide”.

Their first welsh destination is already underway and preparing for the launch. They will be serving free tea all day on Opening Day (12th February 2PM)
