Jamie Jones & Chris Stussy Turn Cardiff Castle into a Knight-club

On Friday 20 June, Cardiff Castle was reborn as a bouncing dance floor, thanks to Shangri-la who presented Welsh house legend Jamie Jones and Dutch beat maestro Chris Stussy. With doors swinging open at 3pm, the sun was high and the energy bouncing from the outset.

Jamie Jones, who has a residency at Ibiza’s new super club Unvrs was the headline attraction. It was his first Cardiff Castle set in six year and he didn’t disappoint. From the opening tune, he lifted the crowd through a masterclass in house and tech-house—laid-back grooves that had the Castle audience dancing.

Supporting was Chris Stussy brought a flavourful contrast: his slick, polished style and well‑chosen tracks kept the mood churning between Jamie’s peaks. It was a tight set that bridged classic club energy with contemporary sound, priming the crowd for the main act .

The setting couldn’t have been more fitting. The castle’s old walls echoed every bass drop and breakdown, giving the whole evening an immersive edge. Despite being an outdoor event, the sound was crisp, the staging slick, and when the sun set the production lit up the skies with the lasers—humble enough for real connection, yet big enough for a festival feel.

By 10pm, both DJs had delivered what fans were craving: immersive journeys, unexpected drops, and moments of pure catharsis. Jamie’s welsh crowd responded in kind—cheering every mix, jumping to every beat.

For Jones, it was a return to Wales where his career began; for Cardiff, it was proof that the city remains a pulse‑point for top-tier dance music and Shangri-la are the ten leading the way. As part of Depot Live’s summer series, this show sat proudly alongside names like Maribou State who take to the stage on Wednesday , Faithless later in the summer.

Jamie Jones & Chris Stussy delivered a night to remember—a careful selection, expert building of momentum, and a setting that felt both communal and grand. The Castle may be historic, but on 20th June it was home to something modern and utterly now.
