Green Man Trust Annual Powys Community Grants Now Open for Applications

The Green Man Trust has announced that applications for its 2025 Community Grants are now open, with £10,000available to support community projects across Powys.

Following an overwhelming response last year, applications have been opened earlier this time around, allowing more local organisations the chance to apply for funding. The Green Man Trust launched its Community Grants scheme two years ago to support projects that promote inclusivity, well-being, and community resilience in Powys. The fund focuses on initiatives that help tackle the challenges posed by economic inequality and an ageing population, benefiting vulnerable adults, older people, children, and low-income families.

In 2024, the scheme awarded funding to organisations in Brecon, Llangattock, Crickhowell, Talgarth, Talybont, Llangorse, Llangynidr, and Glangrwyney, as well as Powys-wide initiatives such as Mid Powys Youth Theatre, Arts Connection, and Sense Cymru. Previous recipients have used the grants to fund projects including women and girls’ cricket at Glangrwyney Cricket Club, a replacement roof for Llangattock Community Hall, and a touring theatre programme for young people with additional needs.

Last year also saw additional funding go towards launching the Brecon Community Swap Shop, a year-round resource providing free school clothing, sports kits, and essential items, alongside private support spaces for families in need.

Green Man Trust founder Fiona Stewart highlighted the impact of the grants, saying:
“Green Man is about creating opportunities and supporting community projects. We are inspired by the dedication of those making a difference in Powys, and we’re delighted to be able to help.”

Since its launch, the Green Man Trust has supported over 12,000 people and 170 community projects, making the Community Grants a vital part of its ongoing work.
