Another international fast food chain is coming to the City!

Get ready to spread the Chickenjoy, Filipino fried chicken favourite Jollibee is getting ready to open their first welsh location on Cardiff’s Queen Street!

If you’re not familiar with the fast-food chain, that will likely change soon. The company announced earlier in the year that they plan to open 50 sites in the UK to rival KFC. The brand has long enjoyed cult status in parts of South East Asia outselling Mc Donalds & KFC. It opened a small site in London in 2018, sparking 18 hour queues, similar to the scenes when Taco Bell arrived in Cardiff.

Jollibee was founded in 1978 in the Philippines and now has 1,478 branches across the globe, which is set to rise with a £30 million expansion plan announced for the UK.

The menu is described on the Jollibee website as “a joyous mashup of western comfort food with a Southeast Asian twist”. Bestsellers include Chickenjoy, the famous crispy fried chicken made with a family-secret marinade; Jolly Spaghetti, made with a Filipino inspired sweet-style sauce, loaded with layers of cheese and hot dog slices; and the Jollibee Chicken Burger, perfectly prepared by the team with hand-breaded juicy fried chicken for extra crunch.  All their burgers are priced at £3.99.
