Fatboy Slim to headline new music festival in Cardiff city centre

A new one-day, electronic and live music festival called ‘It’s A Love Thing’ is coming to Cardiff this summer, with Fatboy Slim announced as the headline act.
Promising a combination of world class musicians and DJs, street food, entertainment and exciting staging, the festival will welcome 18,000 revellers to Pontcanna Fields in the city centre on the 9th June 2018.
A whole host of other, yet-to-be-announced performers/bands will be joining the MTV Video Music and Brit award winner across three separate stages, including one created by Arcadia. Famous for their incredible stages at Glastonbury festival, Arcadia are a performance art collective that combine elements of sculpture, architecture, recycling, pyrotechnics, lighting, circus and music into large scale performance and dance spaces.

The event is the result of a new business partnership between the organisers of Bristol-based festival ‘Love Saves The Day’ – now in its seventh year – and The DEPOT warehouse venue in Cardiff. The DEPOT will also be creating a ‘street-food village’ at the new festival, with details on the food pop-ups attending to be revealed at a later date.
The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement that BBC’s Biggest Weekend will come to Swansea in May.
Founder of The DEPOT, Nick Saunders explained: “Since opening in 2014, the focus for The DEPOT has been on running really creative and interesting events and bringing something a bit different to Cardiff. People have really embraced this, which is why we thought this city would be the ideal location for a new festival of this magnitude.”
Tom Paine of Loves Saves The Day added: “We’re really excited to have secured Fatboy Slim in our first year of It’s A Love Thing, and to bring the Arcadia Afterburner stage to Wales for the first ever time.  We’re positive it’s going to be a hugely popular event, so we’re urging anyone who is interested to pre-register so we can keep them up to date as more acts are announced.”
