Chris Brown is bringing the heat to Cardiff this Thursday 19th June as he kicks off a summer of blockbuster concerts at the Principality Stadium – and yes, it’s going to Turn Up The Music / chaos in the city .
The R&B superstar is the first in a mega run of artists hitting the stadium this summer, with Lana Del Rey, Oasis, Stereophonics, Kendrick Lamar and Catfish and the Bottlemen all lined up in the weeks.
But first up – it’s Breezy time alongside Pride Cymru also taking place int he city Saturday and Jamie Jones and Chris Stussy in Cardiff Castle on Friday. If you’ve got tickets, here’s everything you need to know to make sure your night runs smoother moving around the city.
STADIUM ENTRY & GATE TIMES
- Gates open: 5PM
- Expect large crowds, especially after work hours, so get into the city early to beat the rush.
ROAD CLOSURES
To keep the area around the stadium safe and moving, there will be a full city centre road closure from 3PM to midnight on concert day.
Key roads affected include:
- Westgate Street, Wood Street, St Mary Street, Castle Street, Duke Street and High Street
- Plantagenet Street, Tudor Street, Fitzhammon Embankment
- Scott Road and Park Street will close from 7AM to allow fan queuing to be managed safely.
If you’re driving, avoid the city centre entirely and opt for park & ride at Vindico Arena, CF11 0JS in the Sports Village.
TRAINS & TRAVEL ADVICE
Here’s where things get tricky — major railway works between Bristol and South Wales mean there will be no direct trains from Bristol to Cardiff on the day of the Chris Brown concert.
- If you’re travelling from Bristol, you’ll need to change at Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa to reach Cardiff.
- GWR will run an extra service back to Bristol Temple Meads via Gloucester after the show, plus replacement buses will support late-night travel.
Whether you’re local or travelling in, plan ahead and check your last train time.
Queues for the mainline will start from 10PM on Central Square, and Valley Line queues will be to the rear of Cardiff Central station.

BUS STATIONS & QUEEN STREET
- Cardiff Bus Interchange will shut at 3PM
- Queen Street Station closes at 10PM, unless you’re heading to Cardiff Bay or have accessibility needs.
WHAT ELSE TO KNOW
- No large bags are permitted inside the stadium – check the full list of prohibited items at: principalitystadium.wales
- Allow plenty of time for security, queues and last-minute crowd surges.
- No bottles, cans, glass containers, or external food and drink — everything must be disposed of before entry
- Collapsible 500 ml bottles may be allowed if empty upon entry, but still subject to search
- Noise-makers & special effects:
- No Air horns, horns of any kind, whistles, smoke canisters
- No Banners, poles & flags: All banners, poles, sticks, flag sticks
- Other miscellaneous items:
- Musical instruments, banners, poster boards .
- Cooking devices (e.g. portable stoves), flammable gas canisters
With the first of many massive gigs coming to the capital, Chris Brown’s Cardiff show is set to be a proper stadium spectacle. From bangers like Under the Influence to big-stage dance routines, fans are in for an XXperience.
Just make sure you’ve planned your travel – and maybe leave the car at home.
