Cardiff Bay will once again be celebrating it’s multi-cultural roots this weekend

Clear your schedules and mark your calendars because the much-awaited Butetown Carnival is making a triumphant return to Cardiff this bank holiday weekend. From Sunday, August 27, to August 28, get ready to Dance, shake your bells, and celebrate Tiger Bay.

For those who might not be in the know, Butetown Carnival is a yearly street party that brings together folks from all walks of life to celebrate the beautiful tapestry of Cardiff. Picture this: singing, dancing, and street parties galore, all under one vibrant sky. It’s a true testament to the diversity and spirit of the Cardiff Bay area.

Back in the day, the carnival was the hottest cultural ticket in town during the ’70s and ’80s. It’s been a tradition since 1967, and this year, it’s bursting back onto the scene with a bang. The highlight of the festivities? You guessed it – the Carnival Parade! At the stroke of 12 pm on Sunday, August 27, the streets will come alive with a colourful and exhilarating parade. Starting from Loudoun Square shops, the procession will wind its way down Bute Street, before reaching the lively Carnival hub outside the Senedd on Harbour Drive. And don’t you worry, the fun won’t stop there. From 1 pm to 8:30 pm both days, the carnival spirit will be in full swing.

there’s a full lineup of local and international acts that’ll have you dancing until your feet beg for a break. The homegrown talents like Leighton Jones, Zion Road, Anthony Ward, Adjua Sings, Konshuss_One, and the incredible Luchia will take to the stage with to perform.

But wait, there’s more! The global sensations are bringing their magic to the mix too.
