Autumn is here and what better way to celebrate than visiting a pumpkin patch ahead of Halloween on October 31?.
Pumpkin picking could easily be made into a daylong venture as many of these pumpkin patches offer additional activities, such as hayrides, corn mazes, delicious food and picturesque views for the Gram.The adventure of picking a pumpkin is half the fun.
We’ve rounded up a list of six pumpkin patch farms located within an hour of Cardiff that you can just to Turnip…. and pick a treat this Autumn half term.
Where – Coedarhydyglyn Park, Near Bonvilston, St Nicholas, Cardiff CF5
the Cardiff Pumpkin Picking Patch, located on the A48 between Culverhouse Cross and St Nicholas, and just a 15-minute drive from the centre of Cardiff (postcode CF5 6SF), visitors will find in excess of 55,000 awesome pumpkins ripe for the picking on a 13-acre site. Additionally, children (and adults, of course) can hunt for Toad, check out the amazing new photo opportunities and the famous pumpkin house. Also why not try making your own witch’s broom — for flying as opposed to brushing! — or craft your own magic wand, or tin can bat. Additionally, on the 6th of November, you can go to the pumpkin farm in Cardiff and smash up the remaining pumpkins!

Little ones can become little farmers as they pick their prized pumpkin and choose from 8 different varieties or walk around the scarecrow maize maze.
And with 25 acres of pumpkin patch to explore, there’s plenty of space for visitors to enjoy picking their perfect pumpkin. New to 2021 we are offering twilight pumpkin picking! We are lighting up our fields after dark to allow pumpkin picking under the stars.
3.Forage Farm
Where- Penllyn Estate, Llwynhelig, Cardiff CF71 7RN
Take your little ones down to Forage Farm where they will be holding their annual pumpkin festival this October! They can rummage through the fields where many pumpkins have been grown and find themselves their perfect pumpkin! If you’re keen to carve your pumpkins they also sell pumpkin carving kits at their shop!
4.Pencoed Fach Organic Farm
Where -Pencoed Fach Farm, Bedwellty, Blackwood
One of the top pumpkin PYO patches to visit in South Wales, according to the number of hashtags on Instagram compiled by DIYS.com, and guess what? They are dog friendly too so your pumpkin pooch can get in on the insta action.
5.Clearwell Farm
Where -Pentrpoeth Road Michaelston-y-Fedw, Cardiff
With Over 20 varieties growning at Clearwell ranging from tiny multicoloured gourds to the massive Atlantic Giant.
Each year the farmyard turns into a weatherproof Halloween themed Pumpkin festival with thousands Pumpkins in the farmyard and barn

6.Berry Hill Farm Newport
Where – Berryhill Farm, Marshfield
Berry Hill Farm, on the old A48 between Newport and Cardiff, has a 4-acre pumpkin patch full of pumpkins that are ready to find a home. Guests are welcome to pick pumpkins and corn stalks, as well as purchase apples, honey, apple cider and even pet food. Admission to the farm is via a ticket which allows up to 6 people.
