After months of rumours, it’s finally official! Global fashion retailer UNIQLO has confirmed it will open its first-ever store in Wales at St David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff.
Speculation about the popular Japanese clothing brand coming to the Welsh capital has been circulating since spring 2026, but St David’s has now confirmed the news, with the new store expected to open in autumn 2027.
The announcement is a major addition to Cardiff’s shopping scene and marks another step in UNIQLO’s continued expansion across the UK.
The new UNIQLO store will occupy approximately 940 square metres of retail space across two floors at St David’s, bringing the brand’s popular LifeWear collections to Wales for the first time.
Known for its simple, practical clothing and everyday wardrobe essentials, UNIQLO has built a huge international following for its combination of quality, comfort and affordable fashion.
Shoppers can expect a wide selection of clothing for men, women, children and babies, including the brand’s popular basics, seasonal collections and functional clothing.
The arrival will also mean Welsh customers who previously had to shop online or travel to stores elsewhere in the UK will finally have a UNIQLO on their doorstep.

Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s, said the shopping centre had received significant interest from customers hoping to see the retailer arrive in Cardiff.
“There has been phenomenal demand from Welsh guests for UNIQLO, and we are over the moon to confirm the brand is set to join us here at St David’s Cardiff.
“We do our utmost to bring guests the brands and experiences they will love, and we are proud that UNIQLO has chosen St David’s for its first Welsh store.”
Part of a Major UK Expansion
UNIQLO currently operates 26 stores across the UK, with Cardiff joining Bath, Brighton, Leeds and Canary Wharf as part of the retailer’s planned expansion in 2027.
The announcement is another boost for St David’s, which continues to attract major international brands to Cardiff city centre.
While an exact opening date and the store’s location within the shopping centre have yet to be announced, shoppers can expect UNIQLO to arrive in autumn 2027.
