One of South Wales’ most unique pumpkin-picking experiences is returning this October, bringing more than 60,000 pumpkins, a life-size Pumpkin Village, street food, live entertainment and plenty of autumn photo opportunities to the outskirts of Cardiff.
Clearwell Farm’s Pumpkin Village will reopen from 1 October, transforming the farm into a colourful autumn wonderland for another season.
What started as a simple pumpkin-carving activity has grown into one of the farm’s biggest annual events, attracting families from across South Wales.
At the centre of it all is the incredible life-size Pumpkin Village, with buildings covered from top to bottom in colourful pumpkins and autumn decorations.
Visitors can grab a wheelbarrow and wander through the village, choose from thousands of pre-picked pumpkins or head out into the fields to pick their own pumpkin straight from the patch.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to grab the perfect autumn picture, with pumpkin-covered houses, displays and incredible countryside views across the farm.
And with more than 60,000 pumpkins available throughout the season, there should be plenty to go around.
Visitors will also be able to roast marshmallows around the fire pits, meet friendly walkabout characters and even have a go at axe throwing, adding another activity to the autumn experience.
Adding a little magic and mystery to the daytime experience, mediums and fortune tellers will also be on site during selected dates, offering visitors the chance to see what might be waiting for them in the future.
Food is going to be a big part of this year’s event too, with a line-up of resident street food traders including Keralan Karavan, Mar Y Fuego, Fire by Firelight Pizza and Maple Crepe, alongside Lillies Coffee, a cocktail bar and marshmallow roasting pits.
The farm is also planning several special events throughout October.
The weekend of 16 October will see things turned up another notch with a big BBQ weekend featuring DJ BBQ, known for his work alongside Jamie Oliver, bringing his live-fire cooking to the farm.
There will also be line dancing and a special country evening, adding even more to this year’s autumn programme.
Event organiser Alex Philips said: “We’ve brought the famous Pumpkin Village back, this year with more colour than ever. Pumpkin picking at Clearwell is going to be bigger than ever.”
But once the sun goes down, Clearwell Farm becomes a very different place.
As darkness falls and the mist begins to roll across the farm, something altogether more sinister takes over.
The Harvest of Horror scare experience is returning for 2026, with live actors, immersive walkthroughs and frights waiting around every corner.
This year’s experience will also introduce a brand-new theme to the maze, Clearwell Fair and the Unfairground, adding another twisted area for those brave enough to enter.
And while the daytime fortune tellers might offer a glimpse into your future, after dark visitors will encounter something altogether more sinister.
The Misfortune Tellers will appear during the Harvest of Horror night events, but whether you’ll want to hear what they predict for you is another question entirely.
The after-dark scare attraction will run on selected nights between 16 and 31 October and is separate from the daytime Pumpkin Village experience.
So whether you’re looking for an autumn family day out filled with pumpkins, street food, axe throwing and photo opportunities, or something considerably scarier after dark, Clearwell Farm will have both sides of Halloween covered this October.
