Cardiff is set for a huge night of live music this spring, as Matt Willis hosts a special one-off charity show at DEPOT Cardiff on 22nd March.
Fronted by musician and presenter Matt Willis, best known as a member of Busted, the evening will bring together an impressive line-up including McFly, The Joy Formidable and Cardiff four-piece Half Happy. The show has been organised in aid of The Matt Willis Recovery Project and Developing A Caring Wales, a Welsh charity that supports people affected by alcohol and drug misuse, as well as mental health difficulties.
The event is more than just a gig. Having openly spoken about his own battle with addiction, Matt Willis is now on a personal mission to create change. Through The Matt Willis Recovery Project, he is developing a pilot scheme designed to give people in recovery a genuine second chance, helping them rebuild their lives with proper support in place.
By teaming up with Developing A Caring Wales, the event also highlights the work being done here in Wales to provide vital services for individuals and families affected by substance misuse and mental health challenges.
For fans, it promises to be a powerful night. McFly’s appearance adds extra excitement, particularly as the band are also set to headline Cardiff Castle on 25th June. This DEPOT show offers a more intimate setting ahead of that major summer date.
With a mix of big names and local talent, and a cause that carries real weight, the 22nd March show at DEPOT Cardiff is shaping up to be one of the most meaningful gigs on the city’s calendar this year.
