A series of bold new artworks inspired by Cardiff’s architectural heritage have brightened up the busy taxi ranks outside Cardiff Central Station, thanks to FOR Cardiff.
FOR Cardiff is the Business Improvement District (BID) of Cardiff city centre – a private, not-for-profit membership organisation voted for by the businesses of Cardiff city centre in June 2016.
The vibrant new designs, created by Cardiff-based artist Suzanne Carpenter of Patternistas, draw inspiration from iconic features across the city, including Cardiff Central Station itself, The Hayes, the city’s famous arcades, and elements of transport reflecting the site’s location.
Carolyn Brownell, Executive Director of FOR Cardiff, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to bring more colour and creativity to Central Square, an area of the city with so much potential. This project not only brightens up a heavily used part of town but also celebrates Cardiff’s unique character through its architecture and heritage.
Public art has a huge role to play in creating a welcoming and vibrant city, and we’re delighted to be working with Suzanne again on such an exciting piece.”
Installation has now been completed, and the artwork is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future.
