Vitality Blast T20 Cricket Returns to Cardiff This Week

Glamorgan made a winning start in this summer’s competition with a win over Middlesex by five wickets

If you’re a fan of cricket then you are in for a treat as Vitality Blast T20 action returns to Sophia Gardens, with Glamorgan’s first home fixture taking place on Tuesday 3 June against Surrey, followed by a Friday night lights against Essex

The competition got off to a flying start for Glamorgan as they secured a five-wicket victory over Middlesex at Merchant Taylors’ School Ground in Northwood on Sunday, 1 June. Now, the team is set to bring the energy back to the city, with the men kicking off their home campaign in front of a Cardiff crowd.

Tuesday’s match against Surrey will start at 6:30pm, offering the perfect post-work evening of fast-paced cricket, with Friday night fixtures also lined up throughout the summer to maximise the fun and family-friendly atmosphere.

In total, Glamorgan will play seven home games, with fixtures split across Fridays and Sundays, giving fans plenty of chances to catch the action live at Sophia Gardens. The first block of matches runs from 1 to 20 June, before a break for County Championship games. The T20 campaign resumes from 4 to 18 July for the remaining six matches.

Meanwhile, the women’s semi-professional League Two fixtures are also scheduled to share the spotlight, with games at Sophia Gardens on 13 and 18 July, alongside the men’s matches, providing even more reason to make a day of it.

The competition will culminate in quarter-finals in early September, with the much-anticipated Finals Day at Edgbaston taking place on 13 September.

Tickets for the opening home games are available now via the Glamorgan Cricket website, with fans encouraged to book early to secure the best seats and soak up the summer buzz of T20 cricket in Cardiff.
