The Enormous Crocodile Returns to Cardiff

The Roald Dahl Story Company has announced a giant-sized UK tour of their wickedly funny new family musical The Enormous Crocodile, and it’s snapping its way into Cardiff Thursday 28th – Saturday 30th may 2026

Based on Roald Dahl’s much-loved book, this brand-new production brings the greedy jungle villain to life through toe-tapping songs, larger-than-life puppets, and a cast of clever jungle creatures. The tour kicks off in March 2026 at the Theatre Royal Brighton and will visit theatres across the UK, including a hotly anticipated stop in Cardiff.

With music by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, a laugh-out-loud script by Suhayla El-Bushra, and additional lyrics and tunes by Tom Brady, this mischievous musical promises fun for the whole family. Directed by Emily Lim and featuring dazzling puppetry co-designed by Toby Olié, expect spectacular jungle scenes and plenty of surprises.

Originally co-produced by the Roald Dahl Story Company, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, and Leeds Playhouse, the show is packed with colour, music, and classic Dahl humour.

So, if you hear something creeping through the trees next year, don’t worry — it’s just The Enormous Crocodile getting ready to perform his secret plans and clever tricks. Will the other animals stop him before it’s too late?
