Cardiff’s popular urban beach celebrates another successful year; welcoming over 350,000 visitors through its doors over the past six weeks and firmly establishing itself as one of South Wales’ most popular events in the summer calendar.
From July to September this year, visitors were able to soak up the sun whilst dipping their toes in the sand, enjoy live entertainment all day every day, and win awesome prizes each week courtesy of sponsors, Capital FM; with the likes of a weekend away at Bluestone and exclusive discounts up for grabs.
Capital FM Cardiff Bay Beach this year returned to its original location at Roald Dahl Plass after temporarily moving to Alexandra Head in 2018, due to local Eisteddfod celebrations. For 2019 it based itself back at the Plass, which has proved to be visitor’s favourite location for the ever-growing, popular beach event. The figures speak for themselves, with over 350,000 people visiting the Beach for 2019.
It wasn’t just footfall figures that the event triumphed; with the Beach raising over £1000 for Tenovus Cancer Care last week in a special evening event. All proceeds that came from the Beach’s fun fair rides between 6pm-8pm were donated straight to the cancer charity, who were thrilled to have a presence at the Beach this year and acquire some extra donations.
Sayers Events’ Norman George, who runs the event spoke about this year’s successful results, commenting;
“We’re really pleased that we could welcome a record-breaking number of visitors to Beach event at Cardiff Bay this summer. We always look forward to opening for the summer holidays, and its so encouraging to see our popularity increasing year-on-year. We already have lots of ideas in mind for 2020 and look forward to revealing plans over the coming months.”
The Capital FM Cardiff Bay Beach runs every summer in Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay throughout the summer holidays for a six-week period.
