If you’re willing to travel a little further for your Halloween scares this year, one of the UK’s biggest scare attractions is returning just over an hour from Cardiff.
FEAR Scream Park at Avon Valley is back for its 12th year this October, promising its biggest and most immersive experience yet, with huge scare attractions, more than 130 performers, live shows and a brand-new headline horror experience.
Located just outside Bristol, the multi-award-winning scream park has become one of the UK’s best-known Halloween attractions, drawing more than 24,000 visitors in 2025, with around 27,000 expected through the gates this year.
And this isn’t just a couple of haunted houses.
FEAR takes over Avon Valley with two multi-layered immersive worlds filled with roaming characters, interactive experiences, thrill rides, fire and laser shows, live dance performances and some seriously impressive horror sets.
Created by a team with experience across theatre, festivals and television, the attraction blurs the line between traditional scare maze and live immersive theatre.
Visitors can take on a collection of very different experiences throughout the night.
VITA NOVA throws guests into a dystopian solo-walk experience, while The Core takes visitors through a world of toxic waste. Then there’s Seeds of Evil, where sinister pumpkin-headed scarecrows are waiting in the darkness.
But the big new arrival for 2026 is something a little different.
The Autopsy is coming for 2026
The Autopsy is a new immersive theatrical horror experience combining live performance, cinematic storytelling, illusions and psychological horror.
Described as a West End-style horror experience, it has been created alongside illusionists and television set designers and will offer a more intimate, up-close experience than the park’s traditional scare attractions.
The Autopsy follows last year’s The Exorcism and will be available as an additional experience on top of standard admission.
Guests will be able to pre-book it or potentially add it on during their visit, subject to availability.
FEAR Scream Park Creative Director Sam Bott said: “The Autopsy in particular has been a real labour of love for me. Last year’s The Exorcism really paved the way for this style of experience at FEAR, and with The Autopsy I wanted to take everything we learned from that and turn it up to eleven.
“It’s bigger, more ambitious and really leans into the theatrical side of what we do, with a huge focus on storytelling, characters and atmosphere.”
More than just the scare mazes
Part of FEAR’s appeal is that the experience doesn’t stop when you walk out of a maze.
The entire site becomes part of the show, with roaming performers and characters interacting with guests throughout the evening.
There are also live performances, fire and laser shows, rides and food and drink, making it more of a complete Halloween night out than simply moving from one scare attraction to another.
Sam added: “FEAR is about much more than just scares. It’s a whole night out where there’s something happening everywhere you look, incredible characters, live shows, great food and drink and, of course, some genuinely terrifying experiences.”
The attraction has picked up a string of industry awards over the years, including Best Scream Park and Best Scare Experience at the Thrill Nation Halloween Awards 2026, as well as previous Best UK Scream Park awards at ScareCON and Best Set & Design at ScareCON 2026.
And there are apparently still a few surprises yet to be revealed for this year’s event.
For anyone in Cardiff looking to make a Halloween road trip this October, Avon Valley is just outside Bristol and can be reached in a little over an hour by car, making FEAR one of the major UK scare experiences within relatively easy reach of South Wales.
