Indian Street food favourite Tukka Tuk is about to open a  new stand alone restaurant in Cardiff.

Award-winning chef Anand George, the brains behind Indian restaurant Purple Poppadom and Dosaa Indian Canteen in Cardiff Market, is to open a new 51 seater restaurant on Whitchurch Road, Cardiff.

Tukka Tuk Canteen by Anand George is a renowned street food truck that has been serving delicious and authentic Indian street food in Cardiff, Wales for several years.

The food truck has gained a loyal foodie following with Foodies across the nation, and now, Anand George has decided to expand his street food brand by opening a new bricks and mortar restaurant on Whitchurch Road, in Cardiff

At present, Tukka Tuk operates a food stall in Barry located at the Good Shed, in addition to a Dosa Canteen situated in Cardiff Market. Alongside these ventures, Anand George also has the  the highly popular Purple Poppadom, which was the winner of the British Curry Awards 2021.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”29731″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The new restaurant is set to open in the summer of 2023, and it promises to offer the same mouthwatering dishes that have made Tukka Tuk Canteen such a hit with locals and visitors alike.

Anand George has been working on the concept for the new restaurant for quite some time, which was original set to open in December 2022  but the project was hit with a numer of set backs and he is excited to finally bring his vision to life.

The restaurant will be located in a prime location on Whitchurch Road, which is known for its vibrant food scene where fellow former street food vendors Wing Stack, Brother Thai and the Dough thrower have recently also set up shop.

The new restaurant will be able to accommodate more diners than the Cardiff Market location, and it will also offer a more comfortable and spacious dining experience.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20952″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]One of the things that make Tukka Tuk Canteen unique is its focus on Indian street food. Anand George has travelled extensively throughout India, and he has a deep understanding of the country’s diverse culinary traditions. The menu at the new restaurant will reflect this, featuring a range of dishes that are inspired by the street food vendors of India.

One of the signature dishes at Tukka Tuk Canteen is the Kerala Fried Chicken & Bombay fries. The Kerala Fried chicken is a boneless chicken thigh, spiced with ginger, green chilli, curry leaves, crushed coriander seeds, fennel seeds, served with salad leaves, pickled cabbage, fries and homemade Thousand Island Sauce, a perfect snack to eat on the go.

Tukka Tuk food truck can also be found at  the Street food Circus Forest Feastival this easter and other street food events across South Wales.
