The New Theatre has certainly pulled out all the stops this year with it’s festive offering of Snow White and the Seven and Dwarfs.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Cardiff’s pantomime 2022 season has just begun which means Christmas is not too far away. With last years run being cut short it was easy to see that this year the New theatre are ready to make a big impression.
The perfect Christmas cracker, it stars Steps ‘H’ Panto veteran Dame Mike Doyle, BGT ventriloquist Steve Hewlett, Emmerdale’s Siân Reeves and local legend Gareth ‘ Alfie ‘ Thomas , along with a host of sparkling special effects and colourful costumes galore![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”29011″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The minute the curtain rose and the familiar voice of Mike Doyle filled the theatre we were all hooked. We knew that this was going to be a spectacular show. The very Welsh heavy cast was fantastic to see, and the magnificent seven dwarves were hilarious walking around the stage.
A stand out star of the show for us was definitely BGT’s Steve Hewlett as muddles, he was so talented and his individual performances throughout the show, used to break up set chang-overs had the whole family mesmerised.
The continuous dropping in of step song names from H was hilarious, and he got us on our feet dancing and singing regularly throughout the performance, it made the show really interactive and as an audience we really felt part of it
Sian Reeves played a fantastic wicked queen with her powerful yet gritty voice and her energy was enthusiastic throughout.
Both Denquar and Nay-Nay were exceptionally talented and professional, with beautiful singing voices that filled the theatre. Despite the show being called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs there’s very little time these characters are onstage but it doesn’t stop Denquar doing a sterling job of being the fair and kindhearted Snow and the magnificent seven making their mark with an all welsh cast of local young talent.
Mike Doyle’s outfits were as usual bigger than life and he had us in fits of laughter as he always does and he ‘arigh’ crys whenever he came on stage proved as always to be a big hit.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”29012″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Aside from the performances this is a panto which has some stunning visuals to enjoy, without giving away to much you are left looking up at H from Steps floating over the stage continually throughout the show . Watch out for a Sassy Mirror on a motorbike.
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”29013″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a joy to watch; it’s entertaining and, as you would expect has a number of risqué jokes along the way, it is huge fun for all the family and a thoroughly top-notch show.
Having been to Panto at the New Theatre for the past 15 years it’s safe to say that this years show is one that will be remembered. We went as a family of 5 with a 12-year-old and two 7 year olds. They always love the New Theatre’s Pantomime and this is why we come back year after year. It was a cracking way to start the Panto Season and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has set the bar high for Christmas’ to come.
