Popular Indian Street Food Brand SKVP Is Opening in Cardiff

Cardiff’s food scene is about to welcome a well-known name in Indian street food, as Shree Krishna Vada Pav (SKVP) prepares to open its first Welsh location in the city centre.

The vegetarian street food brand will open a new restaurant at the top of Queen Street, bringing its much-loved menu of Indian snacks and street favourites to Cardiff for the first time.

Founded in 2010, SKVP began life as a small sub-let space on Hounslow High Street in London. What started as a modest setup quickly gained a loyal following, thanks to its authentic flavours and focus on classic Indian street food dishes.

Since those early days, the brand has expanded steadily across the UK, opening locations in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leicester. The Cardiff opening will mark SKVP’s 21st site and its first venture into Wales.

The menu centres around traditional Mumbai street food favourites, with the vada pav taking centre stage. Often described as India’s answer to a burger, the popular snack features a spiced potato fritter served in a soft bun with chutneys and toppings.

Alongside vada pav, customers can expect a range of vegetarian street food dishes inspired by the bustling food stalls of Mumbai, packed with bold spices and vibrant flavours.

The arrival of SKVP adds another international flavour to Cardiff’s growing food scene, particularly in the busy Queen Street area where new dining spots continue to appear.

An opening date is expected to be announced soon, with the new restaurant set to introduce Cardiff diners to one of India’s most iconic street food dishes.
