The Osmonds Musical is in Cardiff!

Whether you’re a fan or simply remember The Osmonds in the 70s during the crazy Osmondmania days, this is an amazing show, a life story about one of the best most famous boy bands, musicians and musical family!

The Osmond’s is a musical written by Jay Osmond and narrated by his character, it tells the true story of the Osmond families, an American family music group who rose to fame during the early 70’s. Being personally quite unfamiliar with the music of Osmond’s I went into the theatre with an open mind but was actually amazed at the number of songs I recognised and now I know their fascinating backstory! A story of family, fame, fortune and hard work!

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”28618″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay Osmond began as a barber quartet back in the late 1950’s, really rising to fame after being spotted performing at Disneyland after dark, where the boys were spotted by Andy William’s father which led to them performing on The Andy Williams Show and then they sky rocketed to fame in the following years. Donny and Marie Osmond join a little later into the show and the plot develops further. The show perfectly captures the excitement, trepidation, success, joy and the family conflicts the Osmond’s experienced during their rise and subsequent fall from fame being led by a gentle loving mother and a military trained strict father.

The stage was brightly lit in a colourful rainbow theme throughout and the costumes, wigs and set were all carefully planned with various costumes changes throughout which helped to explain the band’s rise to fame and the changing eras. The young Osmond brothers were depicted by children who were excellent singers with pitch perfect harmony and were delightful to watch. Special mentions must be given to Ryan Anderson who played Merrill Osmond and Georgia Lennon who played Marie Osmond both were exceptional with amazing vocal talents.

With songs such as ‘One bad apple’, Love me for a Reason’ and ‘crazy horses’ it is sure to put a smile on your face and with the cast members beaming at the audience throughout a great night at the theatre is surely guaranteed!

*Massive credit must be given to the entire cast and crew for the performance tonight as we were made aware the cast was not at full capacity due to varying ailments however they still chose to go on with show in true showbiz style! The show was flawless and they did an amazing job![/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/_WA1vlEbO_M” align=”center” title=”Watch our interview with cast memebers Jay, Merrill and Jimmy Osmond”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
