Cardiff’s cheese lovers have a new reason to celebrate, as a brand-new cheese & wine shop will be opening in Victoria Park later this year.
The shop is the latest project from the team behind The Welsh Cheese Company, the Welsh cheese specialists run by international cheese judge Tom Pinder. For the past seven years The Welsh Cheese Company has made it their mission to spread the word about Welsh cheese, working closely with some of the most passionate producers in the country including Caws Cenarth, Caws Teifi, Pant Mawr Cheeses, The Snowdonia Cheese Company, Brooke’s Dairy and Cosyn Cymru.

Their first bricks and mortar shop opened in Taffs Well in 2022, becoming the first 100% Welsh cheesemonger in the UK, whilst their online shop has been delivering UK-wide since 2017.
Now, their second shop will open on Cowbridge Road in the Autumn, on the site of the former Anatoni’s Pizzeria / The Dough Thrower. Currently undergoing a full refurbishment, the unit is being transformed into a contemporary and welcoming neighbourhood destination. Whilst primarily a cheesemongers and wine shop, the plan is for the venue to also offer seating for up to 20 guests, allowing customers to stay and savour curated cheese platters and wines by the glass in a cosy, social setting.
“We’re thrilled to have taken on a new unit in such a vibrant part of Cardiff,” said Tom Pinder, founder of The Welsh Cheese Company. “Victoria Park has a strong sense of community and a real appreciation for great food and drink. Our aim is to create a space where people can pop in to pick up something special for home – or take a seat and explore delicious Welsh cheeses alongside expertly selected wines.”
Further details about the new shop will be revealed via The Welsh Cheese Company’s social media channels and newsletter – you can sign up for more info and follow the progress at www.welshcheesecompany.co.uk or follow them on Instagram at @welshcheeseco.
