Mermaid Quay is set to launch the summer holidays in style with a fun-filled family event taking place in Tacoma Square on Saturday 26 July, from 11am to 4pm. The Ohana Funday promises a jam-packed day of colourful entertainment, creative workshops and character encounters – all completely free of charge.
Inspired by island vibes, cheeky aliens and the spirit of togetherness, the event will feature appearances from a bright blue alien mascot character who’ll be making surprise visits throughout the day, accompanied by a costumed guide bringing plenty of playful energy to the square.
Families can enjoy a whole host of interactive activities including a costumed face painter offering Ohana-themed designs, a glitter tattooist with sparkly, tropical tattoos, and a balloon modeller creating character-inspired creations to take home. All of these experiences will be free and unlimited, allowing children to fully immerse themselves in the Ohana spirit.
Creativity will be in full swing at the parrot puppet workshop, where children can craft their own colourful parrot puppet to keep, with guidance from a friendly, costumed workshop supervisor. It’s a fantastic way to keep little hands busy and kick off the school holidays with imagination and laughter.
