Ibibio Sound Machine Announced They Will Be Performing At Llais Festival

Afro-funk  Ibibio Sound Machine are heading back on the road this autumn, and Cardiff audiences are in for a treat. As part of a new UK tour celebrating the band’s acclaimed fifth album Pull The Rope, the London-based collective will make a highly anticipated stop at Wales Millennium Centre for this year’s Llais Festival, performing alongside artists such as Cate Le Bon and Rufus Wainwright.

Known for their explosive fusion of West African funk, disco, electro, and modern synth-pop, Ibibio Sound Machine’s live shows are an electric experience. Fronted by the dynamic Eno Williams, the band creates an infectious and high-energy atmosphere wherever they play – and Cardiff’s Llais Festival, which celebrates the power and diversity of the human voice, is the perfect stage for their vibrant sound.

The Cardiff date marks a standout moment in the band’s newly announced UK tour, which sees them return to grassroots venues across the country following their only festival appearance of the summer at Gent Jazz Festival in Belgium. The tour will showcase music from Pull The Rope, which has been praised by Clash as “a fine return dipped in their trademark energy” and Uncut for its “potent fusion” of styles and influences.

Llais Festival has built a reputation for bringing some of the most interesting and genre-pushing artists to Cardiff each year, and Ibibio Sound Machine’s inclusion is sure to elevate the programme. With their irresistible rhythms, punchy horns, and forward-looking production, the band promise a live show filled with energy, soul, and unstoppable groove.
