The Great British Gin Festival Returns

This summer brings you every gin lover’s dream… A whole festival dedicated to the stuff as The Great British Gin Festival returns to Cardiff at Portland House,  Cardiff Bay.
This festival should appeal to everyone from gin connoisseur to complete be-gin-ers to go along and rejoice the nations favourite drink. Gin-lovers will be entertained by a virtual reality gin distillery, talks and trade stands, cocktail demos and live performers, with a sophisticated festival vibe.

The Great British Gin Festival is embarking on its 2018 national tour and promises an unforgettable experience for all lovers of Britain’s longstanding favourite tipple. With 19 locations announced from 24th February onwards and spanning Brighton to Glasgow, The Great British Gin Festival is bigger than ever and will arrive in Cardiff on the 28th of July.
 

Gin-lovers can choose from over 100 different international gins, including household names, unusual flavours and exclusive, small batch gins. Available to purchase are 25ml test tubes (perfect to share) or full bottles of your favourites. Entertainment includes a virtual reality gin distillery, talks and trade stands, cocktail demo’s and live performers, creating a sophisticated festival vibe.
Upon arrival, guests will receive a gin glass and gin bible to guide them through the tasting experience.
Guests should prepare to have tastebuds tantalised as they discover all manner of gins, with some including hints of Palma Violets, chocolate, elderflower, and even rhubarb and custard! Brands include Smeatons Gin, Mr Hobbs Gin, Poetic License, JJ Whitley, Liverpool Gin, Marylebone Gin, Old Toms Gin, the Whitley Neill family, Sir Robin of Locksley, plus many more.
New this year guests at the Gin Festival can experience a modern distillery from the comfort of the festival with drink in hand, thanks to a VR headset and amazing virtual reality distillery. The event will also be lined with trade stands from the finest gin producers, with talks about the history of gin, demonstrations of gin production and of course, the all-important cocktail demo’s! Live entertainment will help create a special festival vibe, from magicians to swing bands, playing anything from Amy Winehouse to Frank Sinatra.
Bars at The Great British Gin Festival operate a ‘no cash’ system. Simply buy a drinks card on entry (£5 buys a single measure of gin, garnish and a mixer) and you’re set for the day! Cash and card payments are accepted at the friendly drinks card stand.
Gin remains as popular as ever, but now even more diverse, flavoursome and fun. The Great British Gin Festival looks forward to providing a warm welcome and an entertaining festival backdrop for all gin-lovers to indulge in a bit of what they fancy.
