Drag Rugby Returns to Cardiff Arms Park for Its Biggest Event Yet

One of Cardiff’s most unique and entertaining sporting events is back this summer, as Drag Rugby 2026 returns to Cardiff Arms Park for what promises to be its biggest edition yet.

Taking place on Sunday 19 July, the annual charity match will once again see Cardiff Lions RFC take on some of Cardiff’s best-loved drag performers in a fun-filled afternoon that combines rugby, drag, community spirit and fundraising.

With more than 2,500 tickets already sold, this year’s event is expected to be the largest in Drag Rugby’s history, filling the famous Cardiff Arms Park with supporters from across Wales and beyond.

Hosted by Mary’s in partnership with Cardiff Lions RFC, the event has grown enormously since its beginnings in 2018, when it started as a small gathering on a rainy day in Pontcanna Fields.

Today, Drag Rugby has become one of the highlights of Cardiff’s summer calendar, celebrating inclusivity while introducing new audiences to rugby through an afternoon of laughter, entertainment and community spirit.

Every penny raised from ticket sales will once again go to Dreams & Wishes, with 100% of ticket revenue helping the charity provide unforgettable experiences for seriously ill children and their families.

Matthew Watkins, owner of Mary’s and one of the creators of Drag Rugby, said:

As well as the action on the pitch, organisers are promising even more performers, entertainment and surprises throughout the afternoon, making this year’s event the biggest celebration yet of sport, drag and community.
