Cosy Cinema, the South Wales based business that captured hearts during lockdown and secured investment on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, with two dragons is expanding once again – this time to the outskirts of Cardiff.
The innovative outdoor private cinema company will soon launch a brand-new site at St Mellons Country Club, with an official opening date set to be announced in the coming weeks. The new location will feature Cosy Cinema’s signature heated pods, with state of the art sound and projection equipment , three of which will be dedicated entirely to families, offering a private space all year round for up to six adults or eight children — perfect for birthdays, movie nights, or gaming sessions.
Founded during the pandemic, Cosy Cinema has grown from a creative lockdown idea into a nationally recognised brand, backed by Dragon Gary Neville and Touker Suleyman. Their pods have become a popular destination for film lovers, date nights, and even marriage proposals — with six having taken place inside the cosy domes at Cardiff Caravan park.
Owner Sian Colderley explained that the new site came about through a chance conversation with St Mellons Country Club owner, Mark Hoskens.
“Mark was introduced to us through a mutual friend,” she said. “We got talking and he was instantly drawn to the idea of offering private cinematic experiences in the beautiful surroundings of his country club. As a grandfather himself, he could picture family parties, gaming nights, and celebrations taking place in our pods.”
With St Mellons Country Club already known for hosting weddings and special occasions, the collaboration felt like a natural next step.
“Cosy Cinema has always been about creating special memories, and St Mellons Country Club offers a setting that really aligns with that,” said Sian Colderley. “Of course… the proof will be in the Pod!”
The new site is expected to open later this summer, adding another unique destination for Cardiff families and film fans looking for a one-of-a-kind experience.
