Clean Bandit and Tom Odell headline Depot In The Castle 2019

Clean Bandit and Tom Odell have both been confirmed as headline acts at this year’s Depot In The Castle on July 13th 2019

After the success of last year’s Depot In The Castle, the pop-up event specialist will be taking over Cardiff’s most famous medieval landmark again when they return for a third year- and it is set to be bigger, better and longer than last year!

The DEPOT IN THE CASTLE festival (founded by the same team behind the DEPOT events venue on Dumballs road) started life as DEPOT IN THE PARK, and was initially based at the SSE SWALEC stadium. It combines entertainment, street-food, live music, local performers and a party atmosphere to create an inclusive festival atmosphere suitable for all the family.

Now in its third year – the family fun, music extravaganza is back and they’ve just announced a ma-hoosive line-up of new artists for this years’ event. Now in it’s third year, Depot in the Castle is bringing back it’s summer festival vibes and will now include an extra day on the Friday 12th July.

The first of the two headline acts for Saturday will be Clean Bandit

Clean Bandit stormed the UK charts in 2011 with their first Atlantic Records release and top 20 single Mozart’s House. That track soared to No.1 on the iTunes dance chart upon it’s release.

Early this year, the dance-pop trio hit No.1 in the charts with their insatiable song Rockabye featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie. More recently, the band repeated their chart success with new song Symphony, featuring Zara Larsson, as well as teaming up with Marina and the Diamonds for Disconnect.

The second act announced is Brit-Award winner Tom Odell

The Chicester-born singer-songwriter Tom Odell is known for soulful piano ballads that stir emotions.

Tom  Odell last performed in Cardiff at the Burning Lantern Festival in the grounds of St Fagans in 2017.

He is a music prodigy of sorts writing original songs since the age of 13. To this day, he describes himself as being “unquenchably obsessed with the piano”.

This will be the first time that either has played within the iconic setting of Cardiff’s castle.

Festival founder Nick Saunders explained, “Last year we welcomed just over 5,000 people to the castle to party with us, but we want to take it to the next level this year, with not one, but two major acts, so we’ve increased capacity for an extra 3,000 tickets.

We’ve also added a second stage which will host exclusively local talent, and expanded our street food village to include 15 different traders.

There’s nothing quite like watching the sun go down behind the Castle whilst an incredible live soundtrack is being performed right in front of you – we can’t wait to do it all again!”

The full line-up will be revealed in the run up to the event, which will also include street food, craft ales and family entertainment at one of Wales’ leading tourist attractions.
