Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Into Cardiff

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again with Adam Garcia and Liam Fox

The beloved musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is back on the road with a new UK tour that will take audiences on a magical adventure. The show is set to star Olivier-nominee Adam Garcia as the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, who transforms a broken-down car into a flying machine with the help of his children and a charming lady named Truly Scrumptious. Liam Fox, best known for his role as Dan Spencer in Emmerdale, will play the lovable Grandpa Potts, who joins the family on their quest to save Chitty from the clutches of the evil Baron Bomburst.

The tour will kick off at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton on 30 April 2024 and will visit 12 venues across the UK, including the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, in April to 3 May 2025. The show is directed by Thom Southerland, who has previously helmed acclaimed productions of Titanic, Parade, and The Woman in White. The musical features the iconic songs by the Sherman Brothers, such as “Truly Scrumptious”, “Toot Sweets”, “Hushabye Mountain”, and of course, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is based on the 1968 film of the same name, which was adapted from the novel by Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond. The film starred Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, and Robert Helpmann. The stage version premiered in London in 2002 and ran for three and a half years, winning two Olivier Awards. It has since been seen by over five million people worldwide.
