Bluey’s Big Play Delights Families in Cardiff!

Bluey, Bingo, and the Heeler family are taking over the Wales Millennium Centre.

As a parent always on the lookout for fun and entertaining experiences for my kids, I was thrilled when I heard that Bluey’s Big Play was coming to Wales for the first time as part of their UK and Ireland tour. With its stop at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff from the 13th to the 17th of March, I knew we had to grab tickets for this much-anticipated event.

From the moment we stepped into the theater, the excitement was set to max for my twin children. They have watched Bluey every evening as part of their bedtime ritual, so to see the stage as seen on TV in front of them was almost too much to handle. The vibrant atmosphere and buzz of anticipation amongst the children were infectious, setting the stage for what would be an unforgettable morning for them

Bluey’s Big Play, based on the beloved Emmy® award-winning children’s television series, promised an original story crafted by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, along with new music by Bluey composer Joff Bush. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! it’s the music that really sets the stage from the outset, Transporting us from upbeat, feel-good party scenes, to the sensitive, emotive scenes between Chilli and the children as they discuss sibling relationships and how they sometimes don’t go the way we plan.

The plot of the show revolves around Bluey and Bingo as they embark on a mission to pull their dad away from his cozy bean bag and into an afternoon filled with games and adventure. As a parent, I found myself nodding along and chuckling at the all-too-relatable scenarios, as i often do watching the tv Show.

Blue Big Play Wales

The production of this show is, as you would imagine and in true Bluey fashion, very colorful. The set design instantly transports us into the playful world of Bluey and the Heeler family. The talented puppeteers bring the characters to life with infectious energy and enthusiasm. From catchy musical numbers to interactive moments that had the young audience hooked, every aspect of the show is thoughtfully crafted to captivate both children and adults alike.

But the highlight of the show was towards the end (spoiler alert) when all chaos broke loose with giant inflatable balls bouncing into the audience and around the theater. Seeing the look on my children’s faces when the ball came over, and they got the chance to bounce it along, was something special. That last crowd-pleasing interaction and involvement were the perfect way to end the show and send us out with the requisite adrenaline rush at the end of this surprisingly delicate performance.

As the curtains closed on Bluey’s Big Play, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to share such a delightful experience with my family. It’s not often that a show manages to entertain both children and adults in equal measure, but Bluey’s Big Play certainly achieved that and more.

If you’re in Cardiff or planning to visit during the show’s run at the Wales Millennium Centre, I highly recommend snagging tickets for Bluey’s Big Play. It’s an hour of heartwarming, hilarious, and altogether unforgettable theatrical adventure that will leave the whole family smiling from ear to ear. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it
