For more than six decades, Fiji has travelled to Wales and produced some unforgettable rugby moments.
But on Saturday 4 July, history will be made as Fiji hosts its first-ever home international in Cardiff as part of the new Nations Championship.
With the UK staging Fiji’s home fixtures this summer, Cardiff will be transformed into a celebration of Pacific Island culture, bringing the sights, sounds and spirit of Fiji to the Welsh capital for one unforgettable day.
This is more than just a rugby match. It’s a full-day cultural celebration that promises to be unlike anything Cardiff has seen before.
A Fijian Welcome to the Stadium
The experience begins long before kick-off.
As supporters make their way towards Cardiff City Stadium, they will be greeted by traditional Fijian warriors in ceremonial dress, creating a unique atmosphere throughout the route to the ground.
Traditional dancers and cultural performers will also line the journey, helping turn the walk to the stadium into a celebration of Fijian heritage and hospitality.
Experience Fiji in Cardiff
Outside the stadium, supporters will have the chance to immerse themselves in authentic Fijian culture at a dedicated Fan Zone designed to bring a taste of the islands to Cardiff.
At the heart of the Fan Zone will be a traditional Fijian Village, complete with authentic Bures, the iconic thatched homes found across Fiji.
Visitors will be able to receive temporary tribal tattoos, create Fijian-inspired tote bags, dress in traditional Fijian costumes and learn more about Fiji’s islands, customs and culture.
With activities designed for all ages, it promises to be a family-friendly celebration before the action gets underway on the pitch.
The Soundtrack to the Summer
The entertainment line-up features some of Fiji’s most celebrated performers making the journey to Cardiff.
Performing throughout the day will be Paradise Rootz, renowned for blending Pacific Island rhythms with reggae influences and soulful melodies, alongside Fiji’s award-winning choir Primanavia and one of the country’s most popular singers and songwriters, Georgina Ledua.
They will be joined by DJ Kingsman, widely regarded as the UK’s leading Fijian DJ, who will keep the atmosphere building throughout the day.
A Sea of Colour
Supporters are being encouraged to embrace the spirit of the occasion by wearing colourful Bula shirts, Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and Pacific-inspired outfits.
Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed fans, helping transform Cardiff into a sea of colour and creating the ultimate summer rugby atmosphere.
A Match Day Like No Other
While the Nations Championship promises world-class international rugby, Fiji’s home fixture offers something much bigger than the 80 minutes on the field.
It’s a chance to experience the culture, music, traditions and warmth that have made Fiji one of the most admired nations in world rugby.
With live music, cultural performances, family activities and top-level international sport all coming together in one place, this promises to be one of the most unique sporting events Cardiff has hosted in recent years.
Tickets for Fiji’s historic home fixture start from £25 for adults and £10 for under-17s.
For one day only, Cardiff won’t simply be hosting Fiji. It will become Fiji’s home away from home.
