One of the UK and Ireland’s biggest grassroots darts tournaments is set to return to the Welsh capital as the Worthington’s Champion of Champions celebrates its 10th anniversary at The Depot, Cardiff on Saturday 23rd August.
The landmark event will see 256 pub and club champions from across the UK and Ireland go head-to-head in a fast-paced best-of-three format, all battling for a share of the £32,500 prize fund. The overall winner will walk away with a bumper £10,000 cheque and the prestigious title of Champion of Champions.

A Decade of Grassroots Glory
Since its launch, the tournament has given thousands of amateur players the chance to go “from the pub to the podium.”Past winners include some of the sport’s biggest names, with Welsh stars Gerwyn Price (2015) and Jonny Clayton(2016) both lifting the trophy before going on to achieve professional stardom.
“This event has always been about giving players at every level the chance to shine,” said Ceri McCann, Tournament Organiser. “From grassroots to world champions, the Champion of Champions has built its reputation as darts’ ultimate community event, and we’re proud to celebrate 10 years here in Cardiff.”
More Than Just Darts
Finals Day will offer plenty of entertainment off the oche too. Fans can expect:
- Street food trucks serving up Cardiff favourites
- Challenge Three: Mystery Darts – £1 a go, with bullseyes winning prizes
- Fundraising activities in support of Prostate Cymru and Velindre Cancer Centre
- A lively fancy dress competition, judged by darts icons Colin Lloyd and Bobby George, with the winner earning the chance to play a once-in-a-lifetime leg on stage
With doors opening at 11am and the grand final set for the evening, it promises to be a full day of thrilling darts action and festival-style fun.
