Wallace & Gromit Come to Life at Techniquest in Brand-New Aardman Exhibition

Cardiff Bay’s Techniquest has unveiled a brand-new family-friendly exhibition in partnership with the legendary animation studio Aardman—creators of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run.

The interactive experience includes a walk-through exhibition, hands-on workshops, and augmented reality features designed to entertain curious minds of all ages.

At the heart of the new attraction is the Clay Station, where visitors can sculpt their own Gromit out of clay under expert guidance—perfect for budding animators and fans of the classic stop-motion duo.

Using the All Systems Go AR trail, visitors can also bring Wallace & Gromit to life in 3D via an augmented reality app. Once downloaded, the free app allows users to explore the centre and discover animated surprises as they move through the exhibition.

Enjoy meeting and posing alongside the inventive duo, try on Wallace’s Techno Trousers and even take a selfie as Feathers McGraw! Take photos and share them with your friends and family, as you help Wallace & Gromit complete the trail, try out his latest inventions and blast off in the rocket.

You’re also able to get creative with clay and make your very own Gromit to take home with you at these claystation workshops.

Sessions on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July will be led by an Aardman model maker and cost £5 add on the

The exhibition blends creativity with science, exploring the inventiveness behind Aardman’s animations and inspiring young minds to experiment, build, and imagine.

The new experience is now open at Techniquest until 31st August and is included with general admission.
