Vitality Blast cricket returns to Sophia Gardens

T20 cricket is swinging by this July

Cricket’s most exciting form is returning to Cardiff in the shape of the T20 Vitality Blast! This weekend, the home of Welsh cricket welcomes the next instalment of the county cricket competition. Facing off in this home clash are Glamorgan and Essex.

The Blast is well underway but with everything still to play for, this battle of the overs is sure to be a thrilling fixture. This is part of the summer of cricket at Sophia Gardens which sees the capital city hosting a further two home matches.

Glamorgan are currently seventh in the table with five group stage fixtures still to face. Fans can watch the sporting prowess of household names such as Billy Root and Marnus Labuschagne, and as is the nature of Twenty 20 cricket, big runs and quick wickets are to be expected.

The razzmatazz of this cricket format is a spectacle in itself. Coloured kits, loud music and dancers, and raucous crowds all compliment the high intensity, high-scoring match play where balls flying into the stands is a familiar sight! The entertainment value makes this a one-of a kind sporting experience.

Kids can meet Princesses and Superheroes at a meet and greet from 1.30pm

Tickets range from £13 per person for groups of 6 or more adults £18 for adults, £10 for students and just £3 for under 17s. Sunday 7th July has the bonus of a Family Fun Day where the little ones can meet their favourite princesses and superheroes live with a show at 1.30pm’. Coupled with the food and drink available at the ground and the promising summer weather, this event is a great opportunity to witness some live local sport.

For those who are unable to make this date, never fear as there are two more chances to see Glamorgan play live this summer; Middlesex come to town on Friday 12th July, and not too distant neighbours Somerset will flip a coin for their chances on Friday 19th July.

The Vitality Blast is not all that is on show at Sophia Gardens this summer. Skipper Sam Northeast will lead the team in the Vitality County Championship and the Metro Bank One Day Cup will also feature heavily throughout August; not forgetting the huge International T20 clash between England and Australia on 13th September.
