The new-look Twenty Nine Park Place will open today (Friday 27thJuly) under new owners, award winning restaurant & pub group Knife & Fork Food.

Twenty Nine Park Place is the fifth and most ambitious venue yet from Knife & Fork Food, joining The Discovery in Lakeside, The Conway in Pontcanna, The Pilot in Penarth and The Old Swan Inn in Llantwit Major in the group’s portfolio.

The extensive £200,000 refurbishment has completely overhauled the interiors of the grand townhouse. Twenty Nine Park Place will feature an open kitchen in order to provide some kitchen theatre, a large bar area, cosy drinking nooks and booth seating and a small private dining room on the first floor.

The venue has stepped away from the much-loved interiors of the group’s more suburban venues in order to execute their vision of a refined, modern day watering hole fit for one of the UKs leading cities.

The brand new ground floor open kitchen at Twenty Nine Park Place will be under the control of Head Chef Steffan Bonifay, who was previously the Head Chef at The Discovery in Lakeside.

Dishes to expect on Twenty Nine Park Place’s menu include superfood risotto, a giant scallop dish with cauliflower puree, pancetta sand and a sorrel dressing, and a white chocolate terrine with strawberries and sweet pastry. And fans of the group’s other venues will also be pleased to discover signature classic dishes, including the best-selling fish and chips and a grill menu.

As with the four other venues in the Knife & Fork Food group, customers at Twenty Nine Park Place will have a wide range of speciality ales to drink, however the new offering will be much larger with 14 keg and cask craft ales to choose from. The curated selection will be under the stewardship of Knife & Fork managing director, Sean Murphy, who is also an owner of Vale of Glamorgan Brewery. An extensive spirits and cocktail list to suit all tastes is also available, along with Knife & Fork’s popular wine list.

Regular customers of Knife & Fork Food’s portfolio of pubs will find all the usual offers on food and drink running at Twenty Nine Park Place, including Wednesday’s Steak Night, Thursday’s 2-4-1 cocktails and Fizz Friday. Twenty Nine Park Place will also run an exclusive offer on selected beers and ales for only £3 a pint every Monday and Tuesday.

Speaking about the new venture, Sean Murphy, one of three partners who own the group, said: “Until now we’ve always considered ourselves to be a company that specialises in community pubs and to date we have been very successful at that, however, when we saw Twenty Nine Park Place we simply couldn’t resist.

“Our move into town heralds the beginning of a whole new era for us, but customers at our other venues will certainly feel very much at home. We’ve retained all of the hallmarks that make us special, but we’ve certainly kicked it up a notch. We’re excited to open our doors!”

Twenty Nine Park Place opens to the public on Friday 27thJuly at 12pm.
