The UK’s First Alpine ice trail opens at Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland

We took a sneak peek inside the UK’s first Alpine Ice Trail that opened in Cardiff.

Popular winter attraction, Cardiff Winter Wonderland, opened at City Hall Lawns from 8th November 2019, unveiling its brand-new Alpine Ice Trail for the first time. The Trail will be an open-air ice-skating experience running 250m long, making it amongst one of the longest Ice Trails in Europe and guaranteed to be the only one found in the UK this winter.

Visitors can still expect its usual ice rink facility -which allows for 300 visitors on the ice during each skating session- but the Trail will allow visitors to explore the majority of the site without taking their skates off…quite literally.

The Alpine Ice Trail isn’t the only new feature you can expect at this year’s Cardiff Winter Wonderland. Utilising Gorsedd Gardens, the event will have its own Christmas tree on display -decorated by local primary school, Coed Glas. The Big Wheel will also be a new addition to the event this year, with accessible carriages for wheelchair users, as well as returning favourites such as the double-storey ‘Sur La Piste’ bar and live-entertainment area.

Cardiff Winter Wonderland is open until 5th January meaning it’s here to entertain both you and your family all winter long!
