The Corner of Cornwall’ Experience: Cider, Nature, and Sustainability

As the summer season unfolds, The Botanist in Cardiff has joined forces with Cornish Orchard cider producers to bring a little piece of Cornwall to its customers. This exciting collaboration, aptly named ‘The Corner of Cornwall,’ promises cider lovers a bespoke experience while promoting harmony with nature. Running for six weeks until August 14th, this little slice of the west country aims to capture the essence of summer and align with the brand’s commitment to making a positive impact on the planet.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/6PGW5XWVA1w”][vc_column_text]The launch of ‘The Corner of Cornwall’ at The Botanist offered guests an exclusive opportunity to participate in a cider tasting experience guided by Chris Newton, the chief cider maker at Cornish Orchard. With his expertise, guests were treated to a journey of flavours, uncovering the unique characteristics of the brand’s lead variety, Golden Cider. This immersive experience highlighted the craftsmanship and dedication behind Cornish Orchard’s exceptional ciders.

In addition to providing a delightful cider experience, ‘The Corner of Cornwall’ aligns with Cornish Orchard’s ambition to make a positive impact on the planet. For every pint of cider sold, guests at The Botanist receive a wildflower card crafted from biodegradable, sustainably sourced paper infused with wildflower seeds. By planting these cards at home, consumers can contribute to the increase of biodiversity in their gardens, benefiting local populations of bees. With many bee species facing endangerment, this initiative offers a simple yet effective way to support these vital pollinators.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”30736″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Cornish Orchard, situated in Duloe, takes pride in its commitment to quality and authenticity. Unlike some cider producers who expedite the fermentation process using temperature-control technology, Cornish Orchard harnesses the cool, ambient temperatures of Cornwall’s winter months. This approach allows for a longer fermentation time, resulting in ciders that possess rich and high-quality flavours naturally. The ciders are then matured in tanks, where the flavours and aromas develop over time, softening the youthful astringency and providing vintage-style qualities that form the foundation of their cider range. Each batch undergoes a meticulous hand-blending process to ensure consistency in flavour and quality, demonstrating Cornish Orchard’s dedication to producing exceptional ciders.

Each flavour is carefully crafted to deliver a harmonious blend of natural sweetness and refreshing tartness. Whether you prefer the fruity and floral notes of Raspberry and Elderflower or the enticing combination of Cherry and Blackberry, these ciders promise to transport your taste buds to the idyllic landscapes of Cornwall.
