Sunflower Fields and Giant Corn Maze Set to Bloom Near Cardiff This Summer

A dazzling sunflower field and giant maize maze are set to return this August, bringing a burst of colour and fun to the outskirts of Cardiff.

Clearwell Farm, just a short drive from the city and nestled near Newport, is transforming once again into a summer spectacle of golden blooms and winding maize paths. Best known as a popular Christmas tree destination, the farm will open its gates from Thursday 7 August, welcoming visitors to a month-long family-friendly outdoor attraction.

Tickets to the field cost – £7 for anyone 3+ and a family ticket for £24 plus booking fee

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm, the sunflower and maize experience offers the perfect day out in nature. Wander through Instagram-worthy sunflower patches, get lost in the towering maize maze, and soak in the panoramic views from the farm’s brand new Sunset Sunflower Bar, open Thursday to Saturday from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. From its hillside position, visitors can enjoy sweeping 360° views stretching from Penarth to Cwmcarn.

But there’s more than just photo opportunities on offer. Throughout the month, the farm will also host a calendar of special events to make the most of those long summer evenings. These include:

• Craft Corner – with drop-in family-friendly activities
• Well Wanging – Throw wellies through hoops
• Sunset Yoga Sessions – outdoor wellness as the sun dips behind the hills
• Sound Bath, Wine and Vines – a unique relaxation and tasting experience
• Sunset Sunflowers Cinema – open-air film screenings among the blooms

Clearwell’s cafe will also be open during the day, selling freshly picked flowers and hot food on site.

With its scenic setting, unique events and easy access from Cardiff, the Sunflower and Maize Maze experience is fast becoming a must-visit highlight of the South Wales summer.

It’s such a great space, and the atmosphere here when it’s buzzing with visitors is something special. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the hard work come to life.”
