The In It Together Festival has come to a close after its first ever year and what a rollercoaster it’s been.
I think it’s fair to say that the Festival had some teething issues it needs to work out in the future but on the whole, Port Talbot’s new annual music celebration was a resounding sucess. Boasting an unbelievable lineup featuring Two Door Cinema Club, The Vaccines, Clean Bandit, Craig Charles, Gabrielle, Scouting For Girls, The Hoosiers and so many more, it’s hard to believe this the festivals first year. Not to mention the one and only Noel Gallagher coming in and saving what could have been a disastrous Saturday on the main stage.
After damage caused by high winds closed the main stage early Saturday morning, it looked unlikely the show would go on. But the backstage team worked relentlessly through the day to get things ready for the big man to arrive. You really can’t predict the Welsh weather, but with some tenacity you can overcome it. There was a lot riding on the performance of Gallagher but he absolutely delivered, bringing his world renowned rockstar swagger to the masses.
We also had just enough time to catch some of Robin Morgan and Lou Conran in the comedy tent, and just enough energy left to dance in the DJ tent to Armand Van Helden and Green Velvet, with a few pitstops for food at Halloumination and Soul Burger.
It’s a real testament to this festival that there are so many more incredible acts we could mention and so many more food stalls we loved, but this article would start to look like a Yellow Pages for incredible live music. So we’ll leave it at this; In It Together’s first year was an absolute belter of a weekend despite facing numerous challenges. We cannot wait to see what they’ve got in store for us next year.
