Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds Soar at Cardiff Castle

Last night, Cardiff Castle was once again the centre of musical magic as Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds delivered an unforgettable performance. Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds take to the florally decorated stage and take their respective places. The show starts with the second track from the bands most recent release, “Pretty Boy”, and is succeeded by  “Council Skies” and “We’re Gonna Get There In The End”. The latest material stands up well and is in no way out of place in a setlist littered with classics. However, the true highlights came when he dipped into the Oasis treasure trove, belting out “Whatever” ,”Half the World Away,” “Little by Little,” and the immortal “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” along with a few other classics.

Noel’s connection with the crowd is always a bit awkward and sarcastic in Wales, especially when the crowd continually roared “Wales!” in unison, and Noel’s participation only fuelled the fervor, with his idol Pep Guardiola peering over his shoulder. While his High Flying Birds tracks were well-received, the sea of Oasis bucket hats and flags made it clear: the classics were the night’s heart and soul.

Noel’s stage presence and interaction with fans were a testament to his enduring appeal. He effortlessly bridged his solo work with the timeless anthems of Oasis, creating a constant flow that kept everyone engaged and singing along the whole night long. The atmosphere was charged with nostalgia, hope, and pure brit pop-rock ‘n’ roll energy.

With both Gallagher brothers now on solo tours, fans are buzzing with anticipation and hope for a potential Oasis reunion. As Noel left the stage, one couldn’t help but feel that, definitely maybe, the dream of seeing the Gallagher brothers together again might just come true. Fingers crossed!
