NEW YORK DINER – Opening July 4th

A brand new eatery based on the famous street diner culture of New York City will soon open in Cardiff, something never before seen in the city.
NYD New York Diner, located on the hotspot for international cuisine that is City Road, will offer beefy burgers, flame-cooked grills and the feel of an American diner to the Welsh capital, something nobody else is currently offering.
Head Chef Cesar Telesca hails from the Gaucho region in Brazil, renowned for its premier cattle and traditional barbecuing. His expertise, built on while working at Barbecoa in London, Jamie’s Italian and Planet Hollywood, allow him to authentically capture the flavours and methodology involved in New York cuisine.
Flame-grilled handcrafted beef burgers topped with chunky tomato relish, hearty Brooklyn Brunch to rival the British fry-up and a Madison Square Garden vegetarian grazing platter are just some of the tempters on the USA-inspired menu. Also, unlike the simple grilled chicken available in some restaurants, NYD New York Diner’s version allows diners to choose from four 24-hour marinades: BBQ Big Smoke, Chili Inferno, Big Mama’s Rub or Simply Black and White.
For the cherry on the truly American dining experience, try one of the many thick shakes. Made with rich ice cream, the flavours include classic Vanilla Bean and a signature Oreo Cookies & Cream. If they don’t sound sweet enough, the desserts should satisfy any sugar cravings: traditional New York cheesecake, waffle stacks and ice cream sundaes.
As well as the food and drink available, the look of the eatery is a carefully crafted affair. The main interior is stripped back with an industrial feel, much like that of an inner city loft apartment. Hand-designed signs give a nod to the New York Subway while bespoke booths capture the theatricality of the Big Apple with cinema style seats and Broadway lighting. There is also a working traffic light brought in from New York for added authenticity.
Having been involved in both the restaurant trade and events planning for the past fifteen years, Shaz Haris has a strong understanding of what works well when it comes to stylish, quality dining. It was while working in events that Shaz Haris met his business partner David Cotterill, Welsh football international and Birmingham City player. The two share a passion for good food and quality hospitality, and they appreciate the trend for dining in a casual yet chic environment, all of which have been reflected in the venue.
Owner Shaz Haris, says:
“I’ve seen a huge change in the market for casual dining in Cardiff. The quality of ingredients has gone up rapidly, as have customer expectations and industry standards.
“For us, NYD New York Diner serves to meet the desires and demands of today’s hungry Cardiffians. I believe it does so with style and an effortlessly cool feel to both the menu and the diner itself, something exemplified by our main inspiration, New York.”
NYD New York Diner opens in July 2016 at 157 City Road, Cardiff CF24 3BQ. For more information, head to www.nydcardiff.co.uk.
